Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
